McKenzie Event Management tapped for Habitat
for Humanity’s “Lights of Hope” tabletop
design.
Mary Ann Carter, chair of the 2004 Lights of Hope benefit,
whom we had met while producing the California Symphony
Ball, asked if we could help. We said yes.
In partnership with Mary Ann and Peggy Fenstermacher,
the Decor Chair for this year’s event, McKenzie Event Management designed the table linens and custom made
chair sashes, as well as the centerpieces for this event,
which was held May 1, 2004 at Diablo Country Club.

The first planning session began with stacks of books,
photos and samples, ideas and excitement. “We
knew that the event was themed around the light of stars;
and Peggy wanted to incorporate beautiful birch branches
into the design. We developed a design concept that
provided a soft, springtime feeling, provided height
and light elements for each table, and dramatic use
of color. It was also very important to work within
a firm budget, and create centerpieces that the volunteers
could make after we provided a template.” notes
Kaycee McKenzie Mallery.
Aqua lame’ table linen overlays, selected to
fit two sizes of round guest tables, and custom made
aqua linen chair sashes were the foundation of the design.
Centerpieces were designed using 23” tall, clear
glass trumpet vases filled with aqua netting, to match
the tables. Inside, a battery operated ice light with
blue and green light, created an aqua glow inside the
vases throughout the room. Small silver revere bowls
were set on top of each vase, and filled with silver
birch branches, enhanced by an assortment of silver
stars. The star garland caught the room’s light
and provided a “twinkling” effect which
was beautiful combined with the sea of aqua.
The Lights of Hope benefit event netted record proceeds
that will help build three Habitat houses.

New Invitation Line
Added
Invitations and announcements set the tone for an event.
It’s the first piece of communication designed
to generate interest and attendance or, in the case
of an announcement, provide information.
At McKenzie Event Management, we custom design invitations
for very special events. Our invitations are created
to reflect the personality of the host and a sense of
occasion. We create captivating invitations, whether
announcing a joyous occasion, an annual gala, a corporate
destination event, an important rite of passage, celebrations
of love, or an intimate dinner for friends.
However, there are times when pre-printed invitations
work well and are more cost effective. To provide our
clients with an alternative, we have added a new line
of quality printed invitations to our collection of
fine stationery resources. We can provide you with customized
color combinations, a variety of papers, and contemporary
designs from the Elite Invitations collections.
Best of all, we provide unparalleled service. Following
an initial consultation by phone, we will bring a variety
of albums and samples to your home or office, and work
with you to design a communication piece that gives
the perfect first impression for your event.
